Frequently Asked Questions

Why is surgery at WCC less expensive than other hospitals?

We decrease overhead costs without sacrificing the quality of care! Long story short, we:

  1. Have partnered with Ruff Haven, a local non-profit, to share space.

  2. Are not a full-service hospital, which reduces our equipment and staffing costs.

  3. Prioritize community impact over profit.

Why do you require a referral?

WCC In order to keep cost affordable and offer flat rate pricing we need to streamline care. Many veterinarians may provide alternatives to surgical intervention which you should be informed about prior to scheduling surgery. We also don’t accept higher risk patients because they require more advanced monitoring and care before, during, and following surgery.

Can I talk with a doctor directly prior to dropping off my pet?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee facetime with a veterinarian at drop off. In order to keep costs low, we have developed a “drop off” model to streamline care. That being said, the doctor would love to say “hello” if they aren’t in surgery! Introduction videos from our doctors will soon be available, so you can learn more about them and the surgical procedures we perform.

How do I pay? When do I pay?

Payment options include credit, debit, cash, or alternative payment options (see below). Payment is required at drop off. Good news - no further payment will be required at pick up as we offer transparent pricing at a flat rate.

Do you offer payment plans?

We accept alternative payment options such as Scratch Pay and flexible payments through Vet Billing for qualifying clients. If you have pet insurance, contact them for guidance.

Can I stay with my pet?

Due to space restrictions, we cannot have clients remain in the building after drop off. We will contact you if your pet is ready to be discharged earlier than the included 4-hour recovery period.

What happens after surgery?

  • If your pet does well during surgery and recovers uneventfully during the 4-hour monitoring period, they will be discharged for continued home care.

  • If your pet is unstable or we have concerns, we may refer you to one of the several 24/7 veterinary hospitals for overnight care. Your family veterinarian may also offer post-operative hospitalization or boarding.

What home care is needed for my pet?

You will be provided with detailed post-op instructions on paper and via email.

What if my pet has complications from surgery or I have concerns?

While complications are rare, they do happen. You should contact your primary veterinarian or one of the veterinary emergency hospitals in the area for treatment.

If you have concerns, you can contact one of these 24/7 hospitals:
